Design of Experiments

A structured method for planning, conducting, and analyzing experiments to identify and evaluate the factors that affect the outcome of a process or system. It is a powerful statistical tool for isolating the impact of specific variables, minimizing bias, and ensuring reliable conclusions. Key principles include randomization, replication, and blocking to improve the precision of results and make valid statistical inferences. The objective is to efficiently determine which inputs are significant, how they interact, and their optimal levels to achieve a desired outcome. It is widely applied across many fields, from medicine and manufacturing to agriculture and marketing, to optimize processes, improve product quality, and validate hypotheses.

What you will learn

  • ANAOVA, ANACOVA, BIBD

This course provides an introduction to the statistical principles and methods for planning, conducting, and analyzing controlled tests to evaluate factors affecting an outcome. It covers the foundational concepts of experimental design, including randomization, blocking, and replication. Topics include: Basic designs: Completely randomized designs, randomized complete block designs, and Latin squares. Factorial and fractional factorial designs: Systematic methods for studying the effects of multiple factors and their interactions efficiently, including \(2^{k}\) designs. Analysis of variance (ANOVA): The statistical technique used to analyze data from experimental designs, including the interpretation of main effects and interactions.
